Location
To show your city’s water, we use the approximate location that comes with your connection (city level, provided by our hosting network, Cloudflare). We use it once to pick a city and don’t store it, set a cookie for it, or ask your browser for your location.
The ZIP code lookup
A ZIP code you type into the lookup tool stays in your browser. It isn’t sent to us or stored. If you open a link that already has a ZIP code in it (for example, one shared from a chat answer, like /check/?zip=85004), that address reaches our server the way any page request does, and our analytics, if turned on, is set to drop the ZIP from the address it records.
Analytics
We may use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people read. It sets its own cookies. We don’t send it anything you type, and Google Signals is off.
Affiliate links
When you click a product link that’s an affiliate link, the company you land on (or its affiliate network) may set a cookie so it can credit us if you buy. That cookie is theirs, under their privacy policy. We don’t receive your name, address or what you bought, only that a sale happened.
