About Culligan
- Owner
- Majority interest acquired by BDT Capital Partners (with Mubadala as anchor co-investor) from Advent International and Centerbridge Partners; deal closed August 2021, Advent kept a minority stake. Stated by Mubadala (an owner), not on Culligan’s own consumer site, which names no owner.
- Headquarters
- 9399 W. Higgins Rd., Ste 1100, Rosemont, Illinois 60018
- How it sells
- Home systems (softeners, whole-house filters, RO) are sold, rented, financed, installed and serviced through local Culligan dealers, a mix of franchised independent dealers and locations Culligan buys and runs. Pitchers, dispensers and gravity countertop filters ship direct from shop.culligan.com, and the brand’s return policy refers to purchases from retailers.
- Installation
- Softeners, whole-house filters and RO systems are installed and maintained by the local Culligan dealer after a free water test or consultation. Pitchers and gravity units need no installation.
Does Culligan fit your water?
What you need depends on your water, not the brand: hardness decides whether a softener is worth it, and PFAS or chloramine decide which filter. Look up your city first, then compare.
